| A pair of un-renormalized oppositely charged particles bound together in a stable superluminal orbit consistent with un-renormalized direct action. The vertical axis is time. The green cones are the forward and backward light cones from one of the charges as it moves on its world line. The planes are representation of Cerenkov cones (here in 2+1D). At the intersection of these planes with the light cone is a line of infinite EM force shown here as a heavy black line, each end of which is terminated by a particle. This establishes the required synchronization and corresponds to a particular pitch of helix. It also corresponds to the fact that the world-line helix of one particle intersects the light-cone of the other particle at a tangent. The allowed pitches, and therefore the superluminal speeds, are quantized according to the eigenvalue condition: |
